Laminate Construction
Laminate flooring are created using a laminating process. Each board has four different layers. The wear layer (top layer) consists of a clear finish that protects the floors fading or staining. The design layer (2nd layer) is just what it sounds like. This is where the photographic image is placed. As stated, it can imitate the warmth of wood or the simple elegance of stone. The inner core (3rd layer) contains a plastic resin. This is used to keep the laminate flooring flat and the surface stable. The backing (bottom layer) keeps the floor from warming by creating a moisture barrier for the subfloor beneath the laminate boards
